1783: The summer of the year 1783 was amazing, portentous and full of horrible phenomena for besides the alarming meteors and tremors from Sicily to Norway and the tremendous thunderstorms that affrighted and distressed the different countries of this kingdom the peculiar haze or smoky fog that prevailed many weeks were a most extraordinary appearance, unlike anything known within the memory of man.

Looking back 30 years ago to the Cachalot (Sperm Whale) stranding in Scotland

Sanday Sperm Whales Stranding Commemoration video. It was only a small part of a larger mass-stranding event that stretched across the North Sea including the Netherlands and Belgium. The true number of deaths will never be known. This European event was a wider mass marine and land disturbance that included the Southern Hemisphere. The reason was the airburst activity that I have written about previously.

Fireball in North Sea, Updates for Western Australia and New Zealand

2024, April 30. England, Friesland, Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein. Time: 23:43 UT. Local; 01:33, 2 time zones.

I'm waiting on official data on this event which could take 24 to 48 hours.

Western Australia: Without headland cameras, it's hard to know what is happening in the Gulf and Indian Ocean at the moment however after a few days of lull activity there have been a couple of larger meteoroids. The larger one east of Albany could indicate that more significant events are occurring further afield. I'll keep watching.

2024, April 10. The Netherlands. Fireball. Also seen in France, Belgium and Germany. Around 19:57 UT, or 21:56 CEST local time. Sonic boom heard; concurrent and delayed, meaning it could have produced VLF radio waves making this an electrophonic meteor. Travelled N.W. over the coast and exploded over the North Sea.
