Mass dolphin stranding at Cape Cod

2026, July 6. USA, Massachusetts, Cape Cod, Loagy Bay. A mass stranding of 7 common dolphins. All were relocated and refloated. That is exactly 37 days after the May 30th meteor airburst.

Preliminary Report and will update: Field Timeline for the July 6, 2026 Incident:

8:00 AM: The pod of seven common dolphins (Delphinus delphis) is reported stranded on the shallow mudflats of Loagy Bay as the morning tide receded aggressively.

Morning Rescue: IFAW's field crew executes a rapid extraction, hauling the dolphins out of the mud into mobile rescue units to prevent their internal organs from being crushed under their own weight.

1:15 PM: After receiving on-site veterinary assessments and hydration fluids in the transport vehicles, the entire cohesive pod is driven to Herring Cove in Provincetown, and successfully refloated together into deep water.

Also, an update on North Atlantic Fireball: This is important as it could show developments that increase the possibility of further cetacean strandings along the eastern seaboard. The July 3rd fireball update: The American Meteor Society (AMS) logged these as Events 4991-2026 and 4993-2026. These two records absolutely describe the exact same fireball event. Occurring right around 01:18 to 01:20 UT on July 3rd (which is 9:18–9:20 PM EDT on the evening of July 2nd). It was witnessed from Fort Lauderdale and the Bahamas to Hatteras in North Carolina, over 1000 km apart. It was travelling WSW. It created a sonic boom heard 15 seconds after the incident, a low rumbling sound. The duration reports have a time frame of between 7 and 20 seconds.

June update, Fireballs, Strandings and Asteroid Flyby

Fireballs reported in Florida, Newport in California, Hawaii, UK and Bay of Biscay. Cetaceans ashore in the Shetlands, UK (Sowerby’s beaked whale), California, Iceland, Alaska (pregnant Cuvier's beaked whale), Oregon, Honolulu (Blainville’s beaked whale), Canada, Vietnam, and Japan.

Asteroid: (2026 LS1). Diameter: 14 m - 32 m. Flyby: 2026, Jun 13. Close Approach Time: 06:48 ± < 00:01. Velocity (VRE): 8.34km/s. Drop Line: 2 hours.

Unusual Mortality Event of dolphins in the Florida Panhandle

2026, February 3. USA, Gulf of Mexico, off the coast of Levy and Citrus counties in Florida, USA. A large bolide. Time: Around 11:50 pm. Coordinates: (29°00'36.0"N 83°21'00.0"W) GLM detected. First notified by witness from Wakulla County 160 km away to the NW. Image: GOES Lightning Mapper (GLM). NASA’s All Sky Fireball Network logged this as Event 20260203-023717. The fireball was a fragment of an asteroid traveling at approximately 72,100 mph (32.2 km/s). It was first detected at an altitude of 56 miles over the Gulf, west of Bonita Springs, and travelled northwest for 100km before disintegrating roughly 45km above the ocean.

2026, March 7. USA, Florida Panhandle, Gulf of Mexico. More than a dozen dead dolphins have washed up along the Panhandle coastlines this month. The Florida Panhandle Marine Institute said they’re working with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and National Marine Fisheries Service to investigate. We are told that most of the dolphins were found in Mexico Beach and Port St. Joe, with one also discovered in Walton County.

Important Points:

February 3, 2026 (11:50 PM): The bolide airburst occurs. This is offshore from the Big Bend (Levy/Citrus County's.

February 15–28, 2026: Scattered, individual reports of dolphin carcasses began appearing in the marshy areas of the Big Bend (closest to bolide event).

March 7, 2026: A major "spike" or cluster of 12+ dead dolphins is discovered in Mexico Beach and Port St. Joe (Florida Panhandle), roughly 200 km northwest of the bolide site.

Currents and Movement

Oceanographic data for the West Florida Shelf during February and March 2026 shows a consistent north-to-northwest flow. Surface Direction: During late winter, the nearshore currents along the Big Bend typically move water (and anything in it) toward the Apalachicola Embayment and the Panhandle. The Theory: If a pod of dolphins was acoustically disoriented or injured by the pressure wave at the bolide coordinates (29°N) in early February, the natural shelf currents would have helped guide or drift disoriented animals toward the Mexico Beach area (30°N) over the following weeks.

Witness: Mexico, Yucatan, Holbox, Quintana Roo. Time: Approx 9.15pm. A group of tourists witnessed the event. Whizzing noise heard.

2025, November 13. Victoria. Tallarook Ranges. Time: about 21:28:38 (AESDT). Large Fireball. Overland. Duration: 10sec. Travelling in a NE direction. Blue green and white in colour, Blue/Greenish tail, Green head and orange white tail. Broke up on decent (fragmented).

Meteor airburst off the coast of Florida

2025, November 11. Florida, North Atlantic, 40km east of Port St. Lucie and 100km NW of Grand Bahama. Airburst. Time: 17:39:51. Coordinates: 27.3N;79.8W. Altitude: 42.0 km. Energy: 9.3e10, e = 0.28 or 280,000 kg/TNT.

Also: 2025, November 11. New Zealand, South Island. Fireball. Overland. Travelling SW. Seen over Canterbury Region, Otago Region and West Coast Region. Time: around 09:10 UT or 22:10NZDT. Concurrent and delayed sound.

Florida and Bahamas at risk of strandings

A high level of atmospheric fireballs has been detected in the northern hemisphere. Florida, California, and the UK region have had above-average events. A watch should be noted for coastlines. 

2025, November 11. Fireball. The Southwest Florida sky in broad daylight at 12:39. It is shown over land in the lower state.

Mass dolphin stranding in Florida

2025, October 29. USA, Florida, Lake Worth Beach. A mass stranding of four pantropical spotted dolphins near the Lake Worth Pier. Two of the dolphins were already dead, but the two others were rescued.

2025, October 22. USA, Florida, North Atlantic. Fireball. There was a report of a sonic boom. Time: around 00:40 UT.

2025, October 27. USA, Florida, Central Overland. Travelling south. Large Fireball. Delayed and concurrent sounds were detected. The sound was observed on both coastal regions of the state. This event was widely observed by witnesses and captured on camera. 

Rare whales strand in Florida

2025, June 18. USA, Florida, Jacksonville, Atlantic Beach, south of Hanna Park. Two dead cetaceans. A Gervais Beaked whale adult was 14 m long, and the calf was seven feet long.

Another fireball west of Baja California, Mexico

2025, June 16. Mexico, Pacific Baja California Region. Fireball. Time: 22:00PDT, around 05:00 UT. Travelling NE. A Marine Animal Disturbance Alert is still in place for the Mexican and USA Pacific coastlines. With now 25 whale deaths in California since January, there could be a spike in cetacean casualties post this event.

Also: 2025, June 17. USA, Florida, Miami Dade. A 13-foot-long juvenile cachalot (sperm whale) was humanely euthanised after stranding. The individual will undergo a necropsy at NOAA’s lab in Miami to help determine cause of death. The only fireball in the Florida region in the last 49 days was a small fireball that dispersed no delayed or concurrent sound. There was a large one on the 29^th of April; however, its trajectory was mostly over land and north near Orlando. So, to wrap up, we have one fireball sighting and one stranding. 

The vast majority of the event below also occurred over land; however, I do take note of these for research purposes.

Add Ins: There have been over a dozen cetacean deaths in Scotland and one in Hong Kong. 

Also, the Temp Rise/Meteor/Alge Bloom event in California has ended. This has been the third event after the one in Florida and Australia. Looking back at Australian records, this rise in temperature, along with meteor activity, that creates algal proliferation, is rather common. Meteor activity does give rise to plankton activity in the Southern Ocean, so it is understandable that, given the right conditions, this would spin up the process elsewhere.

2025, February 15. India, Cavelossim South Goa. Dead dolphin.

2025, February 7. Tasmania, Tamar River at Rosevears, north of Launceston or 35 km from mouth of river. A minke whale described as bloated and starting to decay, with the noticeable smell described as being significantly foul. 

2025, February 8. South Australia, West Beach, between Ocean and Surf Avenue. A 3 meter long Pygmy Sperm whale. Species confimation to come.

2025, February 12. New Zealand, North Island, east coast, Hawkes Bay, Napier, Clive, Haumoana river mouth south side beach. A adult strap-toothed beaked whale and calf spotted close to shore. The adult beached and died.

2025, February 15. Western Australia, Geraldton, shallows towards Point Moore. Baby humpback washed ashore dead. 

2025, February 16. New Zealand, Wairarapa, Mataikona beach. A strapped tooth dolphin washed ashore dead in an advanced state of decomposition.

2025, February 17. New Zealand, North Island, East coast, Bland Bay Beach. Another Beaked whale washes ashore dead.  

2025, February 17. USA, Florida, Deerfield Beach, A total of three whales, two different species. Pilot whale and Pygmy cachalot (sperm whale). One is just north of the Zumba deck or the pavilion near trespass, the other is north of Tierra East. Report: 6 juvenile pilot whales tried to strand. I think it was a pod of Pygmy sperm whales.  

2025, February 17. Netherlands, north of the Dutch Frisian Islands. A dead cachalot (sperm whale) has been located at sea by the Netherlands Coast Guard.

2025, February 17. Philippines, Mindanao, San Isidro, Gingoog Bay. A mass stranding of Rissos dolphins (Confirmation on species to come). Many have died. The stranding appears to be stretched across 22 km of coast line.

It started in September 2023 and hasn't let up since. Fireball after fireball. The east coast of America has seen above-average meteor events. Since April 29 alone, from Delaware to Massachusetts, there have been 11 marine animal deaths. The deaths have been documented from Florida to Canada. These meteor events correspond to stranding cases.

Another Florida Fireball

2024, March 16. USA, Caicos Islands, Florida and New Providence. Fireball. Time: 00:26 UT. It was seen as far away as the Turks and Caicos Islands over 1000km away. This one was fully over the ocean travelling S.E. approximately 40 km off the coast. It created a sonic boom that was heard in coastline communities. This event could produce marine animal disturbance.

Marine chaos continues in Florida with a Cachalot (sperm whale) stranding on the Gulf Coast

2024, March 10. USA, Florida, Venice, Florida Gulf Coast. Cachalot (Sperm whale). 70 feet (21 meters) long. Approximately 30 tons. Stranded on a sandbar from Service Club Park. Still alive on stranding. Teams are struggling to refloat the whale. Venice is about 120km south of Tampa on the Gulf of Mexico. This location is around 260 km from the deep water of the continental shelf. See the post below on present Florida whale strandings, fish and bird deaths.

Are Meteors playing a part in the bizarre fish behavior in Florida?

What is happening to the fish in Florida? Something, whether poison or some other disaster is making the fish turn very weird. They are exhibiting bizarre behaviour. Spinning around and stranding is far from normal. This could be due to disease or an algae-produced dementia. One reason that shouldn't be discounted is a meteor disturbance, whether a low-impact strike on the water causing concussion or an airburst that has produced VLF radio waves. Interesting footnote: In Florida - 2024, February 19 (and the following week). 27 Pelicans with broken wings found in Florida. 24 were euthanized. Florida Wildlife Hospital puts out an alert on February 25 concerning this matter. All birds had the same kind of fracture. Between the period of the 1st and the 8th of February, there was a stream of meteors accompanied by whale strandings. There was heavy meteor activity along the East Coast over the last two months. A malicious event or accident could have occurred however a natural event should be taken into account.

Questions I will investigate further: Do birds have only one broken wing? How many birds were found dead, if any? How many birds are located that seem concussed or "drunk" if any? Over what distance are the birds being found?
