Another whale stranding in Papua New Guinea

2026, September 10. Papua New Guinea, Raicoast, Madang Province. A large cachalot (sperm whale) washed ashore dead in a moderate state of decomposition. Cetacean strandings in this region have risen, as documented in previous posts. The tally includes two sperm whales, pilot whales and beaked whales.

Time: 13:37UTC. Jakarta Time WIB: 20:44. Papua Local: 10:44WIT. Velocity: 23.19km/s. VRE: 16.42 km/s. Entry Angle: 18 degrees. Size:0.62 m - 1.4 m. JN4 entered Earth's atmosphere between Indonesia's Papua region and Papua New Guinea. Geographic coordinates roughly along the corridor crossing the Arafura Sea. Energy: < 1kt. No witnesses to the event. Meteorites: Several kg likely deposited at sea. Sonic Boom - High.
